Throughout the Kashmiris' struggle, Pakistan will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with its Kashmiri brethren until they realize their inalienable right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite- Former PM Imran Khan.

The United Nations passed a bunch of resolutions on the Kashmir issue globally. Regionally, the Kashmir issue is an impediment and a threat that China seeks to mitigate. At the national level, Non-state actors such as freedom fighters in Kashmir and militant groups challenge the security of Indian-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan faces a series of crises because of this unsolved issue. Due to a lack of political decisiveness, the future of the Kashmiri people is in despair. Therefore, It is essential to maintain peace in the region with the help of providing the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

Pakistan is directly connected to the future of Kashmir's cause. Kashmir is a disputed boundary around the globe. Right after independence Indo-Pak war started for Kashmir because Kashmir was given to Pakistan, but India illegally occupied it. Tension on both sides is still existing because of this unsolved Kashmir issue. Leadership flaws are one of the very reasons for this longest unsolved and ongoing issue for decades. Pakistan raises its voice for Kashmir on international platforms such as the UN. It gives an open call to the world to make a reasonable consensus for the future of the Kashmiri people.

The 72-year-old issue is under inevitable ebbs and flows. The genesis of the Kashmir issue lies in the 3rd June 1947 partition plan. Gurdaspur and Batiala were Muslim majority areas but transferred to India under this partition plan, and Maharaja Hari Singh also favored India. This opened the way for India to access the area of Jammu and Kashmir, and the first Indo-Pak war began on October 26, 1947. After certain other events in 1971, India and Pakistan fought another war. The liberation of Bangladesh (East Pakistan) was the result. Then again, in July 1989 Kashmir insurgency began. This history created immense hurdles in relations between the two neighbors.
